There are several interpretations of the acronym FEAR, the most common being ‘False Evidence Appearing Real’. Personally, I prefer ‘False Expectations Appearing Real’.
Let me explain…
In most cases, our fears are not related to physical danger, they are internal fears – fear of failure, fear of success, fear of judgment, fear of rejection, etc.
‘Evidence’ implies that there is validity to your fear, that facts support it, but in most cases, there is no evidence; the fear is in your mind, it is imaginary.
‘Expectations’ are thoughts about what might happen in the future, which again are products of our imagination. They aren’t real.

Self-acceptance requires us to accept who we are at face value. To bask in the limelight of self-acceptance, we must acknowledge all the good and ‘bad’ about ourselves. We must embrace the positive and negative side of the traits and characteristics that form who we are as an individual. Self-acceptance is a significant indicator of our mental and emotional wellness. It challenges us to be okay with others seeing who we really are.
